To find out if your child is eligible, please go to www.Wigan.gov.uk/Resident/Health-Social-Care/Children-and-young-people/Childcare/Free-childcare-2-year-olds.aspx and fill in the application form. If you are eligible for a place, you will receive an email confirming your eligibility. Please send or bring this into nursery.

Working parents

If you are working more than 16 hours per week at national minimum wage, and earn less than £100,000 net income per year, you may be eligible for 15 hours childcare for your 2 year old. Working parents need to apply for a code via the Childcare Choices website which also gives more information about eligibility: www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

3 & 4 year old free entitlement – 15 hours.

All children are eligible for 15 hours per week free entitlement from the term after their third birthday. We have two options available mornings or afternoons.

You may register your child once they are two years of age. They will then be included on our waiting list.

To qualify for 30 free hours – 3 & 4 Year Olds.

30 free hours will be available to families where both parents are working (or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family), and each parent earns, on average, a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum wage (NMW) or national living wage (NLW), and less than £100,000 per year. Working will include employed and self-employed persons. Parents do not necessarily need to actually work 16 hours a week, but rather their earnings must reflect at least 16 hours of work at NMW or NLW. This includes those parents on zero contract hours who meet the criteria.

TO FIND OUT IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE USE THE CHILDCARE CHOICES WEBSITE:

School Uniform

At Hindley Nursery School most of our children who attend wear our school uniform, although it is not compulsory it makes it much easier for parents when they are getting their child ready.

Please make sure all uniform and shoes are labelled with your child’s name and that your child is wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that they can play in and that help them to be independent.  They will need a coat to keep them warm for outside play.  We provide waterproof suits and wellies so that we can go out in all weathers.

What Our Familes Say About Us

The teachers are very good at communicating not only with the children but also the parents.

Children of a young age develop in certain ways and the nursery teachers are very good at helping parents understand that development, so that playing and learning with your child at home is easier.

"My child is very happy and enjoys coming home and telling me the fun he has had with teachers and friends.  Staff are very supportive of any concerns and problems I  may raise regarding my child.  My child has shown a vast improvement with listening and understanding skills since strting this school."  Parent view November 2022
