At Hindley Nursery School, we understand that computer technology is an essential resource for supporting teaching and learning. The internet opens up opportunities for pupils and plays an important role in their every day lives, even at this young age.
Whilst we recognise the importance of promoting the use of computer technology that will support the learning outcomes planned for the pupils age, we also understand the need for safe access and appropriate use for all pupils, staff, visitors and members of the community.
Our E-Safety Policy has been written by the school building on government guidance. It has been agreed by the senior leadership team and approved by Governors.
Ensuring your child remains safe online
We are all aware of the possible dangers posed by Social Media and we would recommend that parents are aware of the Net Aware website that explains the risks of a number of social media websites. There is a link to Net Aware on our WSCB website https://www.wigan.gov.uk/WSCB/Parents-and-Carers/Internet-safety.aspx or you can find it at http://www.net-aware.org.uk.
If you are suspicious about the behaviour of others online, reports can be made to CEOP and inappropriate media content, online and offline can be reported via parentport by visiting www.ceop.police.uk.
Criminal content online can also be reported to the IWF.
